Wire Rod 6.5 mm Specifications
Specify 6.5 mm nominal diameter and the allowable diameter variation and ovality under the selected purchase standard. Describe the drawing stages and acceptable coil weight, inner diameter and outer diameter for your payoff system. A 6.5 mm listing identifies an enquiry size; it does not confirm a particular tolerance class, coil configuration or stock position.
Wire Rod 6.5 mm Grades
Select the grade for the finished-wire product and production route. SAE 1006, SAE 1008, SAE 1012, 3SP and RST34 are enquiry references requiring the full specification and offered-material review. Mesh grade, high carbon and cold-heading quality are not interchangeable grade designations. Chemistry, surface requirements and any mechanical acceptance must be agreed for the actual order.
Wire rod 6.5 mm SAE 1006
For SAE 1006, include the applicable chemical-composition requirements, target finished-wire diameter and drawing route. State any restrictions on residual elements, scale or surface defects. Confirm the heat analysis and required test evidence against your specification rather than assuming a generic chemistry range.
Wire rod 6.5 mm SAE 1008
For SAE 1008, define the intended product, drawing or forming stages and required surface condition. Add coil handling limits, quantity and inspection documents. A shared 6.5 mm diameter does not make an SAE 1008 offer technically equivalent to another grade or establish suitability for cold heading.
Wire rod 6.5 mm SAE 1012
An SAE 1012 enquiry should identify the governing composition requirements and intended manufacturing process. Specify any heat treatment and the properties required at the relevant processing stage. Confirm the offered material and acceptance evidence before approving a substitution.
Wire rod 6.5 mm 3SP
For 3SP, provide the complete standard designation, edition and required analysis from your purchasing specification. Review the offered certificate and drawing suitability for the intended application; an equivalent SAE designation is not assumed.
Wire rod 6.5 mm RST34
For RST34, include the full standard and edition, required composition, application and inspection scope. Ask for the offered material certificate to be checked against these requirements before order confirmation rather than treating the grade name alone as evidence of drawing performance.
Wire Rod 6.5 mm Chemical Composition
Compare published chemical reference limits for SAE 1006, SAE 1008, SAE 1012, 3SP and RST34, expressed as percentages by mass. Reference A is a published SAE wire-rod grade guide; reference B consists of separate producer specifications for ST-3sp and Rst34. Each row retains its own reference basis. These are not actual heat results, confirmed EMRA stock specifications or universal limits for every product carrying the same grade name.

For reference A, silicon is agreed with the buyer. The ST-3sp and Rst34 values in reference B belong to those individual producer specifications and must not be relabelled as universal GOST or DIN limits. Do not infer a DIN 17100 designation for RST34 or an EN equivalent for 3SP from this table. Confirm the full grade, applicable standard and edition, processing requirements and offered chemical limits before purchase. The mill test certificate records the actual heat analysis. A similar chemistry or shared diameter does not establish grade equivalence.
Standards and Inspection Documents
ASTM A510/A510M and ISO 16120-2 address wire rod requirements in their respective scopes. Select the applicable specification and edition for the order rather than combining unrelated limits. State any requirement for an EN 10204 type 3.1 inspection certificate, heat identification, chemical analysis and agreed test results at the enquiry stage; the document scope is confirmed with the offer.
Applications and Surface Quality
For a 6.5 mm enquiry intended for drawn wire, mesh wire or nails, state the finished product and the proposed reduction schedule. Review chemistry, scale and surface-defect acceptance together with the drawing process. Nail or fastener production may require additional forming-quality requirements; diameter and a low-carbon grade name alone do not establish suitability.
Export Packing and Delivery for 6.5 mm Coils
Define coil securing, labels, weather protection and any surface-treatment requirements for the proposed road or sea shipment. Include the maximum handling weight and receiving equipment. Request a quotation to the named city or port with the delivery rule stated explicitly: DAP names a destination place, CFR or CIF name a destination port, and FOB names a shipment port. Packing, loading arrangements and inspection are confirmed for the proposed shipment.
Wire Rod 6.5 mm Price Factors
The quotation depends on the grade, chemical and surface requirements, dimensional acceptance, coil configuration, inspection scope, quantity and shipment basis. Freight, timing and requested documentation can change the offer. Compare like-for-like specifications and named delivery points; the website does not publish a fixed unit price or imply stock availability.
Buying Wire Rod 6.5 mm
For a 6.5 mm quotation, send the complete grade and standard, target finished-wire diameter, drawing stages, quantity and unit, acceptable coil configuration and destination. Example enquiry: smooth wire rod 6.5 mm, SAE 1008 to an agreed specification, for wire drawing, quantity in metric tonnes, coil payoff limits stated, with delivery to a named city or port and inspection documents to be confirmed.
Wire Rod 6.5 mm Buyer Questions
What is the minimum order quantity for 6.5 mm wire rod?
Ask for the available shipment quantity for the specified grade, packing and route. Minimum order quantity and loading capacity are confirmed with the quotation. A 25-tonne enquiry does not by itself establish an MOQ or mean that one container can carry that quantity on every route.
Can I request an EN 10204 type 3.1 certificate?
Include the certificate requirement in your enquiry and purchase specification. Confirm the proposed inspection document, heat or batch traceability and test scope with the offered material before ordering. This page does not guarantee the same certificate for every possible supply option.
Is SAE 1006 or SAE 1008 suitable for high-tensile wire?
Suitability depends on the specified finished-wire properties, steel chemistry and processing route. Do not assume that low-carbon SAE 1006 or SAE 1008 can replace a grade intended for spring or rope wire. Provide the target application and acceptance specification so a suitable material option can be reviewed.
